Canarie is a not-for-profit Canadian Internet development corporation involved with advanced learning technologies. Confluent Technologies has contributed to a project in development to provide interactive media solutions for the deaf.
The project involves turning a television broadcast into an ASL (American Sign Language) version. The project requires advanced multimedia presentations that will include multiple video regions that make use of multiple sign language video files accompanied by the actual video region with audio. The project is intended for broadband broadcast on the Internet by 2002.

Toothpaste - Interactive opera? |
Toothpaste is a five minute humorous "domestic opera", made for television featuring comic Mark McKinney (Kids In The Hall, Saturday Night Live), and opera soprano Barbara Hannigan and the voice of baritone Doug MacNaughton.
The classic art of filmmaking and opera are combined with innovative methods of storytelling using digital video and interactive media technologies from Confluent Technologies to create a unique and interactive DVD to provide an enhanced perspective of the film.

CompuSmart kiosks

Confluent Technologies is currently implementing "soft kiosks" at CompuSmart in Toronto. The kiosks will be comprised of in-store display systems featuring the Confluent Technologies full-screen customized media player along with interactive content displaying vendor and CompuSmart content in an immersive interactive presentation. The media presentations featured in-store are also transferable to the Web in streaming format, allowing for an excellent "bricks and clicks" media solution.
