FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FLUITION FOR WINDOWS NOW SHIPPING

- Fluition more robust with anchor drawing for both Mac and Windows -

TORONTO, ON - August 28, 2000 - Confluent Technologies Incorporated is now shipping Fluition 1.0 for Windows. Fluition, the popular SMIL authoring tool, now brings easy interactive Streaming Multimedia Authoring to Windows users. Macintosh users have also been presented with an exceptional 1.22 release of Fluition. Both releases feature an Anchor Draw Tool for creating time-line based "hotspots" within media files.

Fluition is the easiest and most robust authoring environment for creating interactive Streaming presentations. With the latest release of Fluition, Confluent Technologies Inc. has added an Anchor Draw Tool, which enables the author to draw hotspots within any media contained in the Streaming presentation. Hotspots can be drawn directly within the streaming video with "In" and "Out" points allowing for an exceptional interactive Streaming presentation.

"The new anchor draw tool in Fluition will allow the author of a Streaming presentation the ability to draw a hotspot around anything that a person in a video might be holding or pointing to," said Steven Dryall, President and CTO of Confluent Technologies Inc. "The viewer will then be able to click on that spot in the Streaming video and be linked to another Streaming presentation or to another web site, email link, or what ever the author has chosen to link the hotspot to".

Fluition is a SMIL, Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language, authoring tool that allows the author to incorporate and synchronize video, audio, graphics, text, shockwave flash files and others into an interactive Streaming presentation. SMIL is currently best supported by RealNetworks Inc.'s RealPlayer G2 and Apple Inc.'s QuickTime Player. Confluent Technologies Inc. is a partner with RealNetworks Inc. and took advance orders for Fluition for Windows at RealConference 2000 in San Jose.

Confluent Technologies Inc., a privately held Toronto based Streaming Media company, has pioneered interactive Streaming Media presentation creation through the development of Fluition. Fluition demonstration versions for Macintosh and now Windows are available at the Confluent Technologies Inc. website www.SMILsoftware.com. Fluition can be purchased through Confluent Technologies Inc.'s distributors listed at www.SMILsoftware.com
