- Fluition offered as a Streaming Commerce module to Momenta e-commerce solution-

TORONTO, ON - December 2000 - Confluent Technologies Inc., creators of the popular SMIL authoring tool Fluition, and Momenta Inc. a leading global provider of e-commerce solutions today announced a partnership to provide a streaming commerce module to Momenta's products. Fluition will be included as a module in the Momenta solution and the two companies will supply the requisite resources to allow interactive streaming creation and broadcast from e-commerce sites.

With the Fluition module, companies using the Momenta e-commerce solution will be able to create interactive streaming video presentations that will allow the viewer to click on an object in the streaming video and be taken to the web page where that product can be purchased.

With the solution offered by Momenta, companies offering an e-commerce site will be able to re-purpose their existing media assets for the Web. Existing television commercials can be digitized and assembled into a SMIL presentation and streamed from the client's Web sites with the interactive component that will allow viewers to click through to the e-commerce Web pages where that product is sold.

Fluition is a SMIL, Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language, authoring tool that allows the author to incorporate and synchronize a multitude of files into an interactive streaming presentation. Fluition allows the user the opportunity to create video presentations that allow the user to click on the actual video file, as well as allowing the creator of the presentation the opportunity to include additional regions along with the video region that can include the company logo, address, email link, PowerPoint presentations or any other file that might be included on an HTML web page. RealNetworks Inc.'s RealPlayer best supports SMIL at present.
