- Confluent Technologies hosts the pro-series workshop "Intro to SMIL" at Macworld -

TORONTO, ON - July 2000 - Confluent Technologies Inc., creators of Fluition, the popular SMIL authoring tool, exhibits at Macworld New York. Confluent Technologies President and CTO Steven Dryall also hosted the pro-series workshop "An Introduction to SMIL and Streaming Media" for conference attendees.

Fluition is the only commercially available, dual platform SMIL authoring tool. Fluition is a SMIL, Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language, authoring tool that allows the author to incorporate and synchronize video, audio, graphics, text, shockwave flash files and others into an interactive Streaming presentation. Fluition allows the user the opportunity to create anchors within media files, including floating hotspots within video files by creating the anchors in the regions where the media files are placed. With a region-based tool like Fluition, customization of the entire presentation is much easier then creating HTML pages. "In" and "Out" points allow the author to customize not only what the viewer sees, but also when the author sees it temporally.
