FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FLUITION AT MACWORLD NEW YORK - Confluent Technologies hosts the pro-series workshop "Intro to SMIL" at Macworld - TORONTO, ON - July 2000 - Confluent Technologies Inc., creators of Fluition, the popular SMIL authoring tool, exhibits at Macworld New York. Confluent Technologies President and CTO Steven Dryall also hosted the pro-series workshop "An Introduction to SMIL and Streaming Media" for conference attendees. "It's great to be speaking at an event of this magnitude, it was an honor to be asked to speak at Macworld" said Dryall. "The mere fact that SMIL is being taught at such a large conference is an indicator that SMIL will be a huge part of the rich-media future of the Internet, and Fluition is being recognized as the leader in SMIL creation tools." Confluent Technologies has been educating trade show attendees across North America this year on the power of SMIL with the introduction of Fluition at Macworld 2000, in San Francisco and other industry events. Fluition is the only commercially available, dual platform SMIL authoring tool. Fluition allows for the easy creation of sophisticated interactive media presentations for streaming on the Internet in RealNetworks Inc.'s RealPlayer and Apple Computer Inc.'s QuickTime. Fluition also creates SMIL presentations for CD-ROM applications and is being tested in conjunction with Interactive TV applications. Fluition is a SMIL, Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language, authoring tool that allows the author to incorporate and synchronize video, audio, graphics, text, shockwave flash files and others into an interactive Streaming presentation. Fluition allows the user the opportunity to create anchors within media files, including floating hotspots within video files by creating the anchors in the regions where the media files are placed. With a region-based tool like Fluition, customization of the entire presentation is much easier then creating HTML pages. "In" and "Out" points allow the author to customize not only what the viewer sees, but also when the author sees it temporally. Confluent Technologies Inc., a privately held Toronto based Streaming Media company, has pioneered interactive Streaming Media presentation creation through the development of Fluition. Fluition demonstration versions for Macintosh and now Windows are available at the Confluent Technologies Inc. website www.SMILsoftware.com. Fluition can be purchased through Confluent Technologies Inc.'s distributors listed at www.SMILsoftware.com ### For more information contact: Steven Dryall, President (sdryall@electricleisureland.com) Confluent Technologies Inc (416) 925-5325 Fluition is a trademark of Confluent Technologies Inc.
