FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE VIRTUAL CD FROM CONFLUENT TECHNOLOGIES INC. - Fluition used to create a new way to sell CDs, Virtual CD - TORONTO, ON - September 2000 - Confluent Technologies Inc., creators of the popular SMIL authoring tool, Fluition, has recently been publicizing one of their newest applications for Fluition, the Virtual CD. Virtual CD is a streaming media presentation that features more then just music. The Virtual CD features not only the streaming music files, but also the CD cover art, links to the band?s Web site, links to the e-commerce site where that CD can be bought on-line, links to videos from the band, etc. The Virtual CD can be viewed at the Horace Pinker Web site, www.horacepinker.com. Additional Virtual CDs can also be seen at the Confluent Technologies broadcast Web site, www.electricleisureland.com, in the music section. Confluent Technologies has been working with a number of other music related Web sites in order to offer an alternative, rich-media solution to only playing music files over the Internet. Due to the fact that the Virtual CD uses streaming audio, the issues of proprietary MP3 files are not an issue. Confluent Technologies has also created a Virtual DVD. The streaming presentation offers similar features as an interactive DVD. Jump to scene, behind the scenes interviews are used in an interactive streaming presentation that is streamed in RealNetworks Inc.?s RealPlayer on the viewer's desktop. Confluent Technologies have even created "Easter eggs" within the actual video file that the viewer can click on to be taken to an otherwise unavailable page. Easter eggs have become popular among DVD enthusiasts. A certain combination of selections within a DVD will illicit an otherwise hidden feature. Confluent Technologies has mimicked this feature by adding an anchor link around a certain actor during a particular scene that, if clicked on, will take the viewer to an additional page. Virtual DVD is currently not available on the Confluent Technologies web sites due to the proprietary nature of the films with which Virtual DVD is being tested. Fluition is a SMIL, Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language, authoring tool that allows the author to incorporate and synchronize video, audio, graphics, text, shockwave flash files and others into an interactive Streaming presentation. Fluition allows for the easy creation of sophisticated interactive media presentations for use in RealNetworks Inc.'s RealPlayer and Apple Computer Inc.'s QuickTime. Confluent Technologies Inc., a privately held Toronto based Streaming Media company, has pioneered interactive Streaming Media presentation creation through the development of Fluition. Fluition demonstration versions for Macintosh and now Windows are available at the Confluent Technologies Inc. website www.SMILsoftware.com. Fluition can be purchased through Confluent Technologies Inc.'s distributors listed at www.SMILsoftware.com ### For more information contact: Steven Dryall, President (sdryall@electricleisureland.com) Confluent Technologies Inc (416) 925-5325 Fluition is a trademark of Confluent Technologies Inc.
